A message from the Mayor, Superintendent and Program Director

Dear New Haven Families,

The New Haven Public Schools have a diverse array of high-quality schools with positive environments and dedicated teachers, staff, and administrators. Our schools range from traditional neighborhood to magnet and charter schools, each with its own unique themes and programming.

If you have a child starting preschool or rising to kindergarten or ninth grade, this is a great time to explore the strength and variety of our schools. As you explore, please consider the interests of your children, special talents, variety of academic programs, extracurricular offerings, school hours, distance from home, and time on bus routes. Please be sure that you join us at the virtual School Choice Expo on January 28, 2023. Register online at this link.

Here are the important dates in the school choice process:

Application Open – February 13, 2023

Application Deadline – March 10, 2023

Results released – April 7, 2023

School choice presents an important opportunity to help select the educational setting that best fits the interests of your children. Let us work collaboratively to help our students explore varied environments that will help prepare them for now and the future.

Sincerely,

Mayor Justin Elicker, Mayor of New Haven

Dr. Iline P. Tracey, Superintendent, New Haven Public Schools

Mr. Marquelle L. Middleton, Director of School Choice and Enrollment
