School Overview

King/Robinson aims to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.

The school’s mission is to help students become critical thinkers and to develop positive attitudes for lifelong learning through a curriculum that emphasizes the International Baccalaureate’s inquiry-based learning philosophy, literacy, foreign languages (Spanish and French), and technology. Students participate in projects that develop the whole person to grow intellectually, aesthetically and culturally.

King/Robinson is the only school in CT authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) Program in the primary and middle grades. The Primary Years Program is organized around six themes: Who we are, Where we are in place and time, How we express ourselves, How the world works, How we organize ourselves, and Sharing the planet. The Middle Years Program is organized around five areas of interaction: Approaches to Learning, Environment, Health and Social Education, Human Ingenuity, and Community and Service.

The school building was constructed in 2004. Its design incorporates the natural beauty and views of the site, with sunlight entering the halls and rooms through floor to ceiling glass walls.

King/Robinson is a uniform school. Research has found that students are more focused and perform better in school when wearing uniforms.
