Davis Street’s theme is “Celebrating Literacy through the Arts, Technology and Multiculturalism.” Davis Street seeks to empower students to successfully meet the challenges of change through the Comer educational philosophy which recognizes that children need nurturing through a collaboration of teachers, administrators, families and community.
The school’s nurturing environment promotes student excellence in academics; students learn to be goal setters and independent thinkers by developing their social skills and learning how to make good choices. The school’s success can be substantiated by scores on the Connecticut Mastery Test, the results of which have designated Davis a Tier 1 School. In keeping with the school’s theme, Davis embraces diversity and inclusion with ongoing thematic units of study that focus on other nations. The annual International Day Celebration provides students with the opportunity to share their research with parents and the community.
Davis features two bands: the 21C Marching Band and the Little People’s Band. The 21C Band performs locally in parades and celebrations.
Since research shows that students are more focused without the distraction of keeping up with current fashions, students at Davis are encouraged to wear uniforms which are available online at www.dennis.com.
Two yearly drama performances allow Davis to focus on the Arts component of the magnet theme. In addition, there are choral, violin and dance performances throughout the year

2012 Lottery Results Data
2012 Lottery Results Data
In an effort to help make families make informed decisions about choosing magnet and charter schools, for the first time NHPS is publishing last year’s lottery data for each magnet and charter school at the bottom of each page. Although the data changes year to year, you can see a snapshot by grade level of how many seats were available, how many applicants applied, how many applicants lived in the neighborhood and how many applicants had siblings. Seats and applicants are specific to New Haven and suburban residents. Hopefully this added information, along with attending Open Houses, will give families the information necessary to choose schools that will fit the individual needs of their children.
