Hyde School of Health Sciences and Sports Medicine has a long standing history of producing confident, motivated leaders. Building on our 17 years as a “character first” school, we opened the 2011-2012 school year with a new curricular emphasis on Health Sciences.
In addition to our Health Sciences program of studies, Hyde is an attractive option for families for a variety of reasons.
Our school is part of the Expeditionary Learning (EL) network of schools. EL is a national organization working in hundreds of schools that generally outperform non-EL schools in graduation rates, enrollment in colleges, and achievement on state tests. Expeditionary Learning marries high academic achievement and character development, providing structures that support a culture of character and learning. We are a small school in which students have the opportunity to thrive. In short, you cannot “hide at Hyde.” We challenge all of our students to live the values of our five vital signs (Courage, Humility, Leadership, Integrity and Support) through our classroom instruction, regular school meetings, and daily small group sessions which we call Crew. We speak and live our values on a daily basis, and insist on the best from our students. Like all schools, we expect that our students will make mistakes. However, in our school, we hold our students accountable and help them to learn from their mistakes.
Each student participates in a five-part curriculum: college preparatory academics, a sequence of health sciences courses including an internship, competitive athletics, community service and leadership training.
"Hyde is a great learning environment and a great community of staff, students, and teachers. I feel that Hyde can help any student develop their character in various ways and will challenge them to take on rolls they would not normally take on. And, I wish they had the Health Sciences programs when I started!" - Matthew, 12th grade
